Three is a huge problem in the United States.  It is not the economy or the occupation of Iraq, it’s the lack of knowledge about children’s health. Fish is supposed to be a healthy food item, but fish can also contain high amounts of mercury.  These are not dangerous to adults, but in a kid they can lead to some nasty side effects. Cocaine (apart from “being a helluva drug”) destroys a person.  However, the effects on a kid are still not understood.  There are competing studies on how much, if any, damage is done.

While I did not attend the Spring 2009 Career Fair, much of the discussion about this event has left students bewildered and underwhelmed. The COC website reports that the number of employers at this semester’s event was a 15% decrease from only a year ago. The event only brought in 17 new companies but there were many Fortune 500 companies represented there. While past statistics report that the Spring Career Fair has always been less of a draw than the Fall event, many students now really believe in the word “recession.”

Drive 40 miles northeast, and you’ll find an hour and a half’s entertainment. Meramec Caverns, located in Stanton, MO, was used by the Underground Railroad in the American Civil War and as western outlaw Jesse James’ hideout. For a steep $18, you can take an 80 minute tour through the caves, where you’ll walk through 1¼ of the 26 total miles of passageway in the largest cave formation in the world.

We have joined the bandwagon, along with sites such as Flikr and wikiHow. What does this mean for you?  Nothing, probably.  We are using are using an Attribution Non-Commercial, which means you can now legally send your friend a copy of the Mineshaft, or send a story, but you need to say where this came from.  Really, there is no change for most of you; but we decided that since we were already doing this anyway, might as well make it official.

In case you were unaware, this upcoming Saturday is February 14th, also known as Valentine’s Day. For those of us that are single, this day becomes either a day to express couple – related mourning and/or anguish, or a day to flaunt our singleness in hopes of ignoring our own insecurities as we watch couples all around campus make us sick.
