An ODE to IDE PDF Print E-mail

Ok, so we are all kinda guilty for making fun of people majoring in the IDE department, but now we feel sorry for them. If you did not hear the university is might be cutting back a little in all the programs but they are also cutting an entire department.

The “undecided engineers” were actually not that. The major was designed for robotics, roller coasters, and to replace several engineers with one. I say this because as a specific major might focus on one subject, the IDE majors had to take classes in nearly every major to get a general idea of general problem solving. The reason IDE was cut was due to a lack of advertisement. It was the newest degree program on campus, and only had a handful of students. Even though the program is ending it still means that engineering students still have to take a combination of Statics, Dynamics, and Mech. E Met. So as I am writing this I am holding tears from my eyes and taking apart my ipod to design ways to make it better, in remembrance of IDE.
