Missouri S&T’s Family Film Series continues this Saturday, February 14th. At 11a.m. at Leach Theatre, the film “The Incredibles” will be shown. Admission is $2 and this showing is guaranteed fun for all. “The Incredibles” was first released from Disney/Pixar in 2004. This movie is a story that takes place similar to the world we live in. In this world, there are extraordinary superheroes forced to live ordinary and mundane lives where mediocrity is applauded while those that have special gifts are told to stay out of view and not to interfere – or risk legal action. However, Mr. Incredible chooses to break out of this societal mold and find a way to secretly pursue his passion of hero work. What unfolds is an entire family adventure to face off against a crazed techno – geek whose quest is for no one to ever be extraordinary again. While there may not be any real superheroes in our world, there are similar themes in society. We sympathize with the forced mediocrity of society, and also with the over legalization that prevents many from taking actions that are perceived as “good.” In true Disney fashion, there is also that elusive happy ending for the protagonist and lots of humor along the way. |
