The Dark Night. Many people salivate over this movie claiming that “It could be the best movie of this decade!” Well, no one said that around me, but if they did I might have to slap them. Yes, both times that I’ve seen this movie it’s been quite eerie, but there are many more movies that are darker and more provocative. Yes, this movie had a very large budget of 185 million, but you can’t buy my idea of a quality movie.

In my opinion Nolan’s first major hit, Momento, was astounding where The Dark Knight was merely okay. For the sake of argument I will say Momento was more of a thriller where The Dark Knight was an action movie. True, The Dark Knight pulled away from the “comic book” persona that the old Batman movies had, but so did Batman Begins. So this movie doesn’t really have a unique and new look and feel; it was the same as Batman Begins.
Most people think that it was Heath Ledger’s greatest role. I once again disagree. This might offend you, but the reason that I think that Heath Ledger won the best supporting role is because he died. It was by far the darkest and most unique role that he has played. But what about 10 Things I Hate About You? That was a good movie, and we found out that Ledger had a voice. Did he sing in the Batman flick? No, he just portrayed a mad villain who desired to point out the flaws of mankind, which is done in nearly every other movie ever made. I feel that if you want to watch an original that Heath Ledger starred in, watch Brokeback Mountain. Although that movie is no Midnight Cowboy.
